You have two options available to complete your language requirement:
1. the traditional sequence (ITAL 1-2-3-4)
2. the accelerated sequence (ITAL 20A-20B-4), created specifically for Spanish speakers.
After completing either of the lower-division sequences, you can continue to Advanced Italian (ITAL 101A and 101B), and be very close to completing the Minor in Italian Studies (see below for required units).

Lower and upper division culture, film, and literature courses change every year. Check the schedule of classes or our Instagram page to see which content courses are offered in upcoming quarters.

Requirements for the Minor consist of 24 units, distributed as follows:

Lower Division Requirements (4 units plus language proficiency)

Proficiency in Italian through the Intermediate level in either:

A: ITAL 1, ITAL 2, ITAL 3, ITAL 4; or
-
B: ITAL 20A, ITAL 20B, ITAL 4; or
-
equivalent.

Four (4) units from lower-division lecture courses on Italian literature, film, and/or culture offered by the Department of Comparative Literature and Languages.

Upper Division Requirements (20 units)

Eight (8) units of ITAL 101A and ITAL 101B.

Eight (8) units of upper-division courses in Italian literature, film, and/or culture offered by the Department of Comparative Literature and Languages.

Four (4) units of upper-division courses in Italian art history, history, film, theater, or another related discipline (may be offered y the Department of Comparative Literature and Languages or by another department) and approved by the student's advisor.
